TOMORROW (Friday August 1st) 1:30 PM, prayer time!
Random quick update. I applied to 3 different video game companies over the past few days. I figured, if I'm going to apply to 1 full time job, why not just apply to the placed I'm actually interested in working at. WELLLLL I recieved and email back from Blizzard Entertainment!!!
If you don't know much about video games, I'll give you a couple insights as to why working for blizzard is a good thing.
#1. There are currently 8.5 MILLION people all over the world that play their game entitled "World of Warcraft."
#2 In terms of gaming companies, they have a great reputation when it comes to how they treat their employees.
#3 For me personally, I feel that I have better chances of moving up within a company like this considering all their success and how long they've been around.
In case you haven't seen it before (which most of you have since Jason was trying to get a job here) this is their website. http://www.blizzard.com/us/
Lucky for me, I don't have to be a crazy talented artist for the job I'm applying for. I would be working in their customer call center (for billing). Which, would be a great "get my foot in the door" kinda job. And I've done TONS of customer service stuff, so I really hope it works out.
SOooooOOOo Ya. Phone interview tomorrow at 1:30pm Texas time! I'll keep you posted!
Love,
Sarah

... and there YOU were...
So there I was, Sunday night... in QUITE the mood. I'd had a bad couple of days emotionally and I knew I had to be up for work at 4am the next day, and I couldn't sleep. I got no rest and this morning work came and went, then I got home and started working on stuff for my job search. I was just, burnt out. AND THEN I GOT THESE IN THE MAIL...

You guys totally made my little gray cloud go away! Thank you mom and my lighthouse girls LOVE YOU SO MUCH. Of course it just makes me miss you more, but now I can look at my cards and smile.
In other happy like news... we had CUPCAKES! But not just ANY cupcakes... for these, people wait in lines... in the HOT HOT sun... in front of an old 1950's-ish silver trailer which, yes that's right, has a SPINNING pink cupcake on top!

So these cupcakes are amazing, not just because of where they come from.. but they are INFUSED with whip cream!!! /drooool

I applied for a new job today, at a small gaming studio. The pay is better than what I make now, and it's full time. Just pray that we figure all this out. If I get a full time job, we'll have to pay for our own benefits for a few months, if I leave starbucks that is. I will keep you posted, I will probably also apply to Blizzard (gaming studio) for a customer service position, so we'll see what happens.
Lastly a HUGE thank you to Melissa and Mom Gourley for helping me out with my resume the past few days. You are wonderful!
Miss you all!

On the left: I Love the way the clouds look here! So fluffly. In the middle is a photo of our apartment complex, and the last photo is one I took at a nearby park.

Yes, That is Texas Shaped CHEESE! Only in Tx. do you find so many Texas shaped items. I even saw a cake pan! The other 2 photos are of some of the downtown buildings, the one on the bottom is the Capitol building.

We actually have been doing some things! On the left is a photo of Video Games Live, a fully orchestrated video game music concert (yes we're that geeky). In the middle is a photo of Jason
playing some "disc golf" we went to a course at Zilker park, it was lots of fun, and quite a workout! The last photo is a fort... on the property of Richard Garriott's home in Austin. He is the creator of a couple big name video games (Ultima Series and more recently Tabula Rasa)

In other Gourley news... we really like the Mosaic church. The worship is really cool, different and really heartfelt and genuine. This last week the sermon was on consumerism and how that ties into our daily lives as Christians. If you have a minute here's a little trailer for the video we watched... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jc4yko5WMEc all the facts here are backed up and true and they state all their sources. You can see the full video here: http://www.storyofstuff.com/
In other random news, I (Sarah) may have to get a second job. Just pray for wisdom... and guidance. I'm not getting many hours at my starbucks and although the cost of living is less here, things still add up... and my pay was cut because the rates in Texas are different. So, to be honest I don't really want to have to go around to other (starbucks) stores looking for hours because I most likely won't be there after Jason gets his benefits (5 more months.) In the meantime tho, it would be great to get some kind of part time job where I don't have to stand up... which sounds funny, but after being on my feet all morning at starbucks I don't want to have to work another 6-8 hours somewhere on my feet.
I don't even know where to begin... I'll be working on my resume this week and looking at postings. After the 5 months I'd love to be in maybe HR, PR or if I have to in order to get my foot in the door, QA... at a video game studio. I love people and I love gaming, so if I can find something where the 2 meet, I'll be set. Ok that's all for now I think. Thanks again, you guys have NO idea how much seeing your posts make us smile. We miss you sooooo much.

Hiiiiii
Sorry it's been a while. The past few days have been full of work and sleep. We're really starting to like Austin. I love the feel of being in a city. I'll post more pictures soon, I started feeling sick yesterday and I woke up this morning with a cold, so I'm in bed on my laptop. Some good news and some bad news... good news we may have found a church. http://mosaicaustin.org/
There a pretty small group, which might be good so we can get to know people. They have an art gallery attached to their worship space... and the worship was pretty awesome last weekend. The people are mostly in the same age range as we are and from what we could tell so far have some of the same interests. The only bummer is their normal pastor is on sabbatical so we won't be able to hear him preach for a while. Anyways, seems like a good place, we might still check out a couple other churches and keep praying to be sure about it.
And in the bad new section: it's taking 4-EV-ER to get our select comfort bed :(
The 2 days they scheduled so far (first for this wednesday which didn't work, then for this friday) don't work for us because we're both WORKING during the 8am-noon time slot. And apparently they deliver by zip code, so in theory I'm going to have to take a day off work in order to finally get it delievered (we would pick it up but they install everything too) So BOOOO to select comfort and there bad planning. What a pain in the.... back!
Other than that things are starting to become "normal" routine. Jason takes the bus to work on the days I can't take him. Hopefully soon he'll have a bike (he missed the bus once last week!)
I'm getting more used to a drive through store, but I still miss the feel of a cafe store...
We had a video game event packed weekend.... I'll post more about that later because i have pictures. It was lots of fun.
Alright, back to bed... ZzzZZz

Back to normal?
Well now that we actually have the internet, things are starting to feel more normal around here. I seriously can't remember how we did things without the world wide web. Like finding directions, or the hours or a store, or comparing the prices of different items at different stores... the internet makes things so easy!
Oh! We're getting a bed soon! Woooooo hooooo. We'll be getting a Select Comfort mattress, the ones where you have you own "sleep number." After looking at all the options we decided this was the best buy for our money, seriously, there were other mattress sets we saw that were double the price and not as comfy as the one we're getting. AND since Jason likes sleeping on a really soft bed, and I need a more firm bed because of my back, it seems perfect!

We had a nice 4th of July. It doesn't get dark until pretty late out here, like 9pm! So we headed over to Zilker park and sat on the grass to watch the fireworks. I am really starting to like Austin, just wish everyone else I knew lived here. It's going to be kinda weird for a while, cheese and wine all by myself isn't the same :(
I'll keep you posted. Miss you all!

Yay!
First off, thanks for the comments everyone! It's glad to hear you're all keeping track of us on here, I really love doing this blog thing :)
Well, we're almost all settled in now, and my headaches have gone away ( I think I had to get used to the heat or something ) Jason started his new totally awesome video game job on monday! He was having some technical issues with the computer they gave him, which was frustrating, but it's all better now and he's really enjoying his job.
I met with my new manager, also on monday. I am really looking forward to starting at my new store, I start training next monday... I'll be working at a drive through starbucks, which I've never done, so I have to learn all about the ways of the drive through. My manager seems SUPER and it seems as though all of the stores in the district are pretty tight with each other. I've been spending time at a few different stores in order to use the Internet and anytime I tell them which store I'm working at they say "oh you're going to love it there! Ximena (my new manager) is amazing" so she has a great reputation throughout the company.
Sofiya is starting to feel at home and she's also starting earning her keep! She killed a huge roach this morning by the front door... so ya we have free pest control.
I've been trying to find a zillion things we need on craig's list. Yesterday I picked up a new hand mixer for 3 bux and a label maker for 10 bux! Woot. It's very time consuming to try and find things we need and price compare when I have limited internet time! Only 3 more days! We get our phone/internet/cable package set up on Sat.
Hopefully I can write more about the city and other interesting things soon, for now I have to get back to looking for more stuff on the interwebs! Love you all!
